Restorative Dentistry encompasses the disciplines of Prosthodontics, Periodontics and Endodontics including Implantology and the interaction of these specialties with each other to achieve a holistic treatment plan. It includes assessment, diagnosis, treatment planning and management of the diseases of the oral cavity, teeth and surrounding structures. It mainly involves the oral rehabilitation of patients to ensure optimal functional, psychological, aesthetic outcomes, which can often warrant multidisciplinary working.

The Restorative Dentistry service at Luton and Dunstable University Hospital aims to serve a population network covering Bedfordshire, Hertfordshire and part of Buckinghamshire (as per the footprint of the Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery network). It is a consultant-led service which provides restorative treatment for patients with:
- Head and Neck Cancer
- Cleft Lip and Palate
- Advanced / Severe Orofacial Trauma
- Diagnostic and treatment planning service for hereditary dental developmental defects including amelogenesis imperfecta and dentinogenesis imperfecta.
